A brilliant brace highlighted a standout performance from the Inter Toronto striker.

It felt a little bit like déja vu.

For a second consecutive year, Julian Altobelli opened his CPL season by scoring a brace, this time in a 2-2 draw with the Halifax Wanderers at York Lions Stadium.

Just before half-time, Altobelli fooled Carducci with a first-time strike from inside the box into the upper part of the net.

He then added a second just eight minutes into the second half, this time with a deft header after a lovely cross played into the box by Max Ferrari.

For his incredible performance, Altobelli was named the Canadian Premier League's Maple Lodge Player of the Week for Matchweek Two of the CPL season.

"Julian is Julian," said Inter Toronto head coach Mauro Eustáquio after the match. "He works his socks off, as I said last year, same attitude. He's even hungrier this year."

After setting an Inter Toronto single-season club record with 15 goals in all competitions last season, an even hungrier Altobelli is a terrifying prospect for opposing CPL backlines.

Next up, Inter Toronto host Vancouver FC, the side that Altobelli scored on twice in his first CPL appearance back on the opening weekend last year.

That Sunday clash will be a big one for Inter as they search for their first win of the season, and once again, Altobelli will be called upon to be the focal point of their attack.
