How to watch CPL action, and what to watch for, this matchweek.

After the TELUS Canadian Championship action took centre stage last week, the Canadian Premier League returns for Matchweek 6.

One game is already in the books, with Forge's annual School Day match providing another special moment in Hamilton with more than 15,000 local students in attendance to watch league-leaders Forge defeat FC Supra du Québec 1-0.

Attention now turns to the weekend, where a tasty triple-header of matches awaits on Sunday. Here are the storylines and details you need to know:

Sunday, May 17 - Atlético Ottawa vs. Halifax Wanderers

1 p.m. ET / 10 a.m. PT — TD Place Stadium — OneSoccer
Tickets available here.

For one of these two clubs, last week's CanChamp action was magical. For the other, it was a nightmare.

Atlético Ottawa return home to TD Place following their best performance of the year in a 3-1 win over Toronto FC at BMO Field.

Halifax, meanwhile, were unceremoniously ousted from the competition in a 4-0 loss to Forge FC in Hamilton. The best way to heal that wound? End a 24-match home unbeaten streak for Atlético Ottawa.

Atleti picked up their first-ever home win at TD Place on August 14, 2021 against Halifax and have lost to the Wanderers just once in their 11 visits to Ottawa.

Sunday, May 17 - Pacific FC vs. Inter Toronto

5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT — Starlight Stadium — OneSoccer, TSN
Tickets available here.

Still searching for their first win of 2026, the Tridents welcome Inter Toronto to Starlight Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The history of this fixture couldn't be tighter. In 28 all-time meetings, each club was 10 wins, to go with eight draws, and the all-time score is 43 goals for Pacific to 42 for Inter Toronto.

Both will be desperate to break that deadlock on Sunday: Pacific to get on the board for the first time this season and Inter Toronto to rebound following heartbreak in the Canadian Championship against CS Saint-Laurent.

Sunday, May 17 - Vancouver FC vs. Cavalry FC

9 p.m. ET / 6 p.m. PT — Langley Events Centre — OneSoccer
Tickets available here.

The weekend concludes in Langley, where Vancouver FC continue to search for their first-ever league win against Cavalry on Sunday evening.

Despite the fixture's one-sided history, the Eagles gave Cavalry plenty of issues last season, eliminating them from the TELUS Canadian Championship on penalties and drawing against them in five of six meetings. The other was a 5-4 thriller, which Cavalry won at ATCO Field.

Both clubs are coming off wins in the league and the cup, so this promises to be a well-contested battle between two confident clubs.

Player to Watch:

Isaiah Johnston, Halifax Wanderers

As the Wanderers head to the nation's capital on Sunday, they need a big performance to get themselves back on track. To do so, they will need more magic from midfielder Isaiah Johnston. With three goals this season to go with two assists, the 24-year-old leads the CPL in goal contributions in 2026.  Halifax need Johnston to continue to be a key producer as they try to find solutions elsewhere early in this campaign.
