It's rivalry week in the Canadian Premier League, with four fixtures designed to bring the late summer heat at an important stage of the 2026 season.
Vancouver FC ride a five-match winning streak into Friday's Salish Sea Derby, the top two in the table clash in Hamilton, and Sunday has big implications for the standings.

Friday, August 14 - Vancouver FC vs. Pacific FC

Pacific FC cross the Salish Sea in search of a long-awaited win against their bitter rivals Vancouver FC under the Friday night lights at the Langley Events Centre.
Vancouver FC took the first two editions of the derby this season, but Pacific have been much improved lately, even if the results haven't followed yet. Since Terry Dunfield took over as manager, no team has managed more expected goals (7.17) than the Tridents.
They have led all three of his matches in charge so far. The next step is seeing them out. That hasn't been a problem lately for Vancouver FC, who come into the match having won five straight for the first time in club history. With a win on Friday, they would set a club record for home points in a season.
Given how both teams have been performing, Friday promises to be the most fiercely contested Salish Sea Derby this year.
Saturday, Aug. 15 - Cavalry FC vs. Forge FC

The 40th all-time meeting between Forge FC and Cavalry FC will help shape the 2026 CPL Shield race.
Currently separated by just a single point in the table, Forge and Cavalry have led the pack the entire season. Now is the time to see which can pull ahead of the other down the final stretch.
Forge have not won a regular-season match in Calgary since 2022, and have just one win at ATCO Field in all competitions in their past 10 trips to the stadium.
Cavalry, meanwhile, have yet to score a goal against Forge this season. The league's top attacking side in 2026 seeks to change that on Saturday, knowing that collecting three points would take them above Forge.
Sunday, Aug. 16 - FC Supra du Québec vs. Atlético Ottawa

Just five days after FC Supra du Québec eliminated Atlético Ottawa from the TELUS Canadian Championship, the two sides resume their rivalry in Laval.
While the stakes won't be quite as high as Tuesday's quarterfinal second leg, Sunday's meeting will have significant implications in the standings, particularly for FC Supra. If the Québec side win, they can narrow the gap between themselves and Atlético Ottawa in the final playoff spot to three points. A loss, meanwhile, would take that gap to nine.
Atlético Ottawa have won both regular-season meetings between the clubs so far this season, and will be keen to get revenge for the CanChamp result on Sunday.
Sunday, Aug. 16 - Inter Toronto vs. Halifax Wanderers

Toronto hosts a clash between two sides absolutely desperate to get back on track as the season enters its second half.
Both Halifax and Inter Toronto have collected just a point per game so far this season, Halifax having played the most matches in the league at 17, and Inter Toronto the fewest with 14. Both sides have just two points from their past four matches. As the playoff line gets further and further away, it's time to lock in.
The first two meetings between the two sides solved nothing, ending in draws. This time, a single point isn't good enough for either club.
Player to Watch:
Yann Toualy, Pacific FC
Pacific FC's attack has looked far more lethal lately, and a key catalyst in that is Yann Toualy. In his side's past three matches, he has a goal and an assist, has completed 11 dribbles and taken 12 shots. As Pacific face Vancouver FC on Friday, Toualy will again be relied upon to be their spark in attack as they search for a big three points in Langley.
