Forge FC travel to the Wanderers Grounds on Sunday at the top of the Canadian Premier League table and boasting a six-game winning streak.
With one more, they could tie a CPL record for most consecutive wins, currently held by Cavalry FC, who won their first seven matches as a club back in the league's inaugural season in 2019.
They have won seven straight matches against Halifax as well, including all three meetings this season, most recently 1-0 on June 10 in Hamilton on a goal by Brian Wright.
Wright has scored for Forge in all three of the meetings between the two clubs this season, and the club's leading goalscorer will be looking to add to his tally of four on the season on Sunday.
Forge got some big contributions from other attacking options last weekend at York Lions Stadium, however, where Nana Ampomah scored a lovely brace before Ismael Oketoukoun added his first CPL goal.
Halifax, meanwhile, looked to be cruising to another home victory last Friday when they held a 2-0 lead over FC Supra du Québec at half-time. In the space of 12 minutes and 20 seconds, however, a Loïc Kwemi hat-trick instead saw them lose 3-2.
Wanderers head coach Vanni Sartini received a red card following the match, and as a result will not be on the sidelines on Sunday. Instead, it will likely be assistant Darryl Fordyce who deputizes.
As a result, they begin the weekend in fifth, four points out of the playoffs, having played at least one more match than every other team in the league. Following Sunday's match, they will play just two of their next six matches at home, so it is vital they make Sunday's match count.
The match comes during Natal Day celebrations in Halifax, during which the Wanderers host an annual home match. That included a 1-0 loss to Forge on Natal Day in 2022.
On Sunday, however, they will be hoping to send their fans home in a celebratory mood. For Forge, they try to continue their march toward yet another CPL record.
