The league's scoring leader is at the top of his game right now.

The story of FC Supra du Québec's inaugural season has, in many ways, been the story of Loïc Kwemi.

The 29-year-old striker has waited a long time to establish himself at the professional level, but now that he's done it for his hometown club in the Canadian Premier League, he's an absolute star.

Kwemi's name was not on many lists of preseason awards predictions. Prior to this year, his only taste of pro soccer was with Valour FC two years ago; the rest of his career had been in the Ligue1 Québec semi-pro system.

From the moment Kwemi stepped on the pitch as FC Supra's starting number nine, though, it became clear his talent had been overlooked. He scored the first goal in club history, a clever finish against Pacific FC, and held firm to his place in the squad ever since.

Twenty-four matches into his first season with Supra, Kwemi has 15 goals — enough to take a sizeable lead in the CPL's Golden Boot race.

Just two games remain in Supra's inaugural regular season, and they're still alive in the playoff hunt, thanks in part to Kwemi's incredible form the past few weeks.

He has scored five goals in the last five games — four in his last three — which has separated him from the pack on the scoring leaderboard (he's now ahead by four). At this point, it would be hard to justify excluding him from the Player of the Year conversation.

Kwemi leads the league in a wide range of stats, beyond just goals. He's top of the table in shots (61), shots on target (33) and expected goals (11.4). None of that should be too surprising for the Golden Boot leader, of course.

He is also, so far, best in the CPL for dribbles completed (67) and touches in the opposing penalty area (154).

Supra's peaks and valleys in 2026 coincide generally with Kwemi's. In matches where Kwemi scores, FC Supra have a record of 8-2-2. When he doesn't, they're 1-3-10.

A lot has turned around for Supra in the last few weeks, which has them just two points out of a postseason place with two games to go. When Kyt Selaidopoulos took over as head coach, they were eight points behind Vancouver, but now they're undefeated in the three matches Selaidopoulos has been in charge. The change seems to have injected some new belief in the club, which has empowered Kwemi to find a new gear.

If FC Supra are to do the unthinkable and complete the late-season comeback, they'll need Kwemi to stay hot.

Based on his track record in 2026, there's no reason to think he won't.
