This past month in the nation's capital, a new star was born.
After bursting onto the scene with a stoppage-time match winner in his debut in late July, Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau followed that up with an unforgettable August.
Atlético Ottawa's hometown hero found the back of the net in four of the club's five CPL matches during the month,
The 24-year-old rounded out the month with another stoppage-time match winner at TD Place, this time in a 2-1 victory over Inter Toronto this past Friday.
With two assists to go with those four goals during the month, Fleuriau Chateau has been named the CPL's Player of the Month for August 2026.
"He's the kind of player I love working with, because all the time they are working," said Atlético Ottawa head coach Gustavo Leal earlier this month. "Right now we are lucky that he's scoring the goals that we need, but even if he doesn't score the goal, he will help us because he fights all the time. He helps us in defensive moments also, and I think that this attitude is good for the group.
"I think when a player works hard all the time, I think that the opportunities come for him, and he's enjoying these opportunities to score."
And he is making the most of them. Fleuriau Chateau is now up to an incredible seven goals in eight matches in all competitions. He has also scored in four straight matches, needing just one more to tie the CPL record for most consecutive matches with a goal in CPL history.
That makes it back-to-back Atleti players who have won the Player of the Month award, with Ballou Tabla being July's recipient.
As the season reaches its business end, and the defending CPL champions, Atlético Ottawa, hunt to add more trophies to their case, 'Nick FC' is leading the charge for his hometown club.
