Cavalry defender Daan Klomp played scorer and provider for the Cavs after being involved in both goals in the 2-0 victory on Saturday, June 6th.
Cavs winger Goteh Ntignee opened the scoring in the 68th minute on Calgary Minor Soccer Association (CMSA) night with a right-footed shot from outside the box. This was the CMSA alum’s second goal of the season and his first since the team’s opener.
Klomp followed up his assist on Ntignee’s opener with a goal of his own in the 79th minute. Klomp’s three goals in the Canadian Premier League (CPL) have all come at home at ATCO Field.
Ntignee led the Cavs with three tackles and used his team-leading four successful dribbles to create two chances.
Defender Adam Pearlman created the most chances in the match with five and provided the assist for Klomp’s goal.
Defensively, Cavalry limited the Wanderers to just three shots in total and one shot on target while dominating possession with 61.9% of the ball.
Cavalry made all five available subs with Harry Paton, Eryk Kobza, Goteh Ntignee, Tobias Warschewski and Caniggia Elva all making way for Michael Baldisimo, Jay Herdman, Niko Myroniuk, Nathaniel Edwards and Owen Antoniuk.
Kobza, Pearlman, and Paton each also received a yellow card.
Up next, the Cavs head straight out to Toronto for a midweek match against Inter Toronto FC on Wednesday, June 10th. Cavalry last played them to a 1-1 draw at ATCO Field this season on April 25th. Daan Klomp provided the opening goal before Tomasz Skublak’s equalizer.
