Cavalry FC of the Canadian Premier League (CPL) today announced it will retain forward Owen Antoniuk on a CPL-U SPORTS contract through the remainder of the 2026 season.

“Owen has been a terrific part of our squad this year and has even found the net for us on two occasions so far,” said Tommy Wheeldon Jr., Head Coach & General Manager, Cavalry FC. “What his story tells is the uniqueness of the Canadian pathway - he’s had to return back to University with Calgary Dinos and come back into our program via U SPORTS. He was also the winner of the 2024 Alberta Premier League (APL) Golden Boot, so he has found a way to put himself into this spot. He is highly talented, with a great football brain and has excellent shooting ability."

Antoniuk has netted two goals for the Cavs so far this season, with most recently scoring a crucial match winner against Forge FC to take Cavalry to the top of the 2026 CPL standings.

Cavalry has also retained the U SPORTS rights of defender Luc Ihama as he returns to Toronto Metropolitan University for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Both Antoniuk and Ihama are guaranteed an invite to Cavalry’s pre-season training camp in 2027 and do not need to enter the 2027 CPL U-SPORTS draft.

Cavalry FC will next face Atlético Ottawa on ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows on Saturday, August 22 at 2:30 p.m. MT, live on TSN & OneSoccer.
