Cavalry FC yesterday clinched the Canadian Premier League (CPL) Shield as the league's Regular Season Winners for 2026, winning the title for the third time in club history and securing a berth in the 2027 Concacaf Champions Cup.
The CPL Shield, introduced in 2022 to honour the league's Regular Season Winners, is a symbol of sustained excellence throughout the 28-match campaign. Cavalry's latest triumph marks the club's second Shield lift and third Regular Season title, including 2019 and 2023.
The reward for Cavalry's first-place finish extends beyond the Shield itself. The club has secured qualification for the Concacaf Champions Cup for the third time in club history, and Cavalry will enter the 2026 CPL Playoffs as the top seed, guaranteeing the right to host the 2026 CPL Final should it advance through its semifinal matchup.
The Calgary-based side led the league with 58 goals scored, nine more than any other club and a CPL record for a single season, and they remained the only team unbeaten at home, boasting a 9-3-0 record on ATCO Field. Cavalry also led the CPL with 24 points earned away from home.
The CPL Playoffs return to ATCO Field on November 7, as the Cavs face FC Supra in the second leg of the two-leg semi-final matchup.
