York United FC announced on Friday the signing of winger Shola Jimoh on an Exceptional Young Talent contract. The 16-year-old had previously signed a Developmental Contract with the Nine Stripes during the 2023 campaign and he’s been a mainstay of club training sessions for quite some time. At the international level, Jimoh has made four appearances for the Canadian Under-15 side. “Shola is such a phenomenal talent,” says Ricardo Pasquel, General Manager and President of York United FC. “Along with an impressive skillset and technical ability, he’s got a terrific attitude and spirit. He’s a local kid with so much upside and it’s our responsibility to not only consistently find these players in our communities and neighbourhoods but give them the best chance of success by investing in them. We’re thrilled to bring him on board officially and we believe in him. He has the potential to go far and we’re here to try and facilitate that.”
