For the majority of the CPL's clubs, their 2026 regular season reaches the quarter mark this weekend during Matchweek 7.
The pack is starting to separate a little bit, with Forge, Cavalry and Inter Toronto all still unbeaten and at least four points ahead of the rest of the league.
A lot can change very quickly in the CPL, however, with all three of those clubs facing tough tests this weekend.
Here are the biggest storylines heading into this weekend's action:
Saturday, May 23 - Halifax Wanderers vs. Inter Toronto
3 p.m. ET / 12 p.m. PT — Wanderers Grounds — OneSoccer, TSN
Tickets available here.
The still unbeaten Inter Toronto travel to the Wanderers Grounds to face a Halifax team desperate for a win after losing three straight in the league.
The last time they met in Halifax, it ended in heartbreak for the hosts after Inter Toronto defeated them on penalties in the playoffs to end their season.
In their first meeting this season, the two sides played to a 2-2 draw in Toronto, with Inter twice taking the lead through Julian Altobelli before Halifax matched their effort both times. Altobelli has four goals and an assist in six career matches vs. Halifax.
Saturday, May 23 - Vancouver FC vs. FC Supra du Québec
6 p.m. ET / 3 p.m. PT — Langley Events Centre — OneSoccer, TVA Sports 2
Tickets available here.
A first-ever meeting between FC Supra du Québec and Vancouver FC takes place at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday.
The Québec club is looking to get back in the win column, and the goals, after back-to-back 1-0 losses against Cavalry and Forge.
Vancouver FC, meanwhile, search for their first home win, and goal, of the CPL season, losing their first three home matches of the year in league action.
For Supra, the match is also the first of 18 this season which will be carried on TVA.
Sunday, May 24 - Atlético Ottawa vs. Forge FC
2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT — TD Place — OneSoccer, CBC Gem
Tickets available here.
For the second time this season, the defending CPL champs and regular season winners go head to head, this time in the nation's capital.
Forge defeated Atleti 2-0 on the opening day of the CPL season and haven't looked back since, sitting top of the table with just a single goal conceded through six matches.
Could Atleti be the team to finally halt the Forge machine? They do have a strong home record against the Hamilton club, unbeaten in their last five against Forge at TD Place.
Sunday, May 24 - Cavalry FC vs. Pacific FC
5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. PT — ATCO Field — OneSoccer
Tickets available here.
Cavalry FC look to make it nine wins in their past 10 matches against Pacific FC at ATCO Field to wrap up Matchweek 7 on Sunday.
The two sides met two weeks ago in the TELUS Canadian Championship at Starlight Stadium, with Cavalry also prevailing on that occasion.
The Cavs are trying to keep pace with rivals Forge during an incredible start to the season for both clubs. Pacific, meanwhile, are looking for their first win of the season, and first-ever regular season win at ATCO Field.
Player to Watch:
Dan Nimick, Forge FC
Nimick and Forge are off to a near-historic start to the 2026 season defensively, having allowed just one goal, a penalty, through six matches. The reigning Defender of the Year, he has been the key leader at the back for the Hamilton club once again this season. Last week, Nimick scored his first of the season with a tremendous individual effort to give Forge a 1-0 victory over FC Supra du Québec in their annual School Day match.
