It is no secret to CPL fans that Tobias Warschewski has a deep bag of tricks.
On Saturday at ATCO Field, he pulled out the pitching wedge.
In the 18th minute, Warschewski latched onto the end of a perfectly placed long ball from Cavalry goalkeeper Nate Ingham from the top of one 18-yard box to the other and lifted it over Atlético Ottawa keeper Chris Kalongo.
Then in the second half, after Ali Musse picked him out at the back post, another clever chip gave Cavalry a 3-1 lead -- a score which held until full-time at ATCO Field.
The Cavalry attacker's brilliant brace earned him the league's Maple Lodge Player of the Week award for Matchweek 18.
The dynamic German also had six shot attempts, five of which were on target. He created a pair of chances, played six crosses, and completed two dribbles.
This is the third time in the 2026 season that Warschewski has been named the Canadian Premier League's Player of the Week, also earning the honour for Matchweeks 7 and 15. He was also named the CPL Player of the Month for May.
Cavalry FC look for a fifth straight home victory when they host Vancouver FC on Saturday (5 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. ET on OneSoccer), while Warschewski aims to continue an outstanding August, which has already seen him put up two goals and five assists.
