Pacific FC announced Thursday that the club has parted ways with head coach James Merriman.

Merriman, 40, had been with the Pacific organization since 2019, taking over as head coach in 2022. In four full seasons in charge, he led the Tridents to qualify for the playoffs three times, and has an overall CPL regular season record of 38-30-50.

The Vancouver Island native was part of the coaching staff under Pa-Modou Kah when Pacific won the 2021 CPL championship. He was also an assistant in the club's inaugural 2019 campaign, taking the helm on an interim basis for one match at the end of the season after Michael Silberbauer left the club.

Through the first six games of the current CPL season, the Pacific sit at the bottom of the table with an 0-1-5 record.

As part of Thursday’s announcement, Pacific confirmed that assistant coach Yiannis Tsalatsidis will take charge of this Sunday’s game against Cavalry FC.

The club will make a further announcement about the appointment of a permanent head coach in the near future.
