Tridents add veteran CPL forward Shaan Hundal on loan from Brooklyn FC and sign midfielder Max Piepgrass to his first professional contract

On Thursday, Pacific FC announced the club has executed a loan agreement with Brooklyn FC of the USL Championship for the services of Canadian forward Shaan Hundal for the remainder of the 2026 season. The club has also signed midfielder Max Piepgrass to his first Standard Player Contract, guaranteed through the 2027 season with a club option for 2028, following his transfer from Cavalry FC.

“These players bring different roles and energy to our squad as we look to enhance our performance on the pitch at the mid-season mark,” said Terry Dunfield, Head Coach, Pacific FC. “We are committed to recruiting into key roles and enhancing what we know we already have in this club.”

Hundal, 27, joins Pacific after beginning the 2026 campaign with Brooklyn FC, where he was among the expansion club's first-ever signings ahead of its inaugural USL Championship season. The Brampton, Ont., native returns to the CPL, where he has scored 20 goals across stints with four different clubs, including a four-goal performance in August 2025 that made him just the second player in league history to accomplish the feat.

A product of the Toronto FC Academy, Hundal began his professional career with Toronto FC II, scoring 17 goals in 84 league appearances from 2016 to 2019 while twice earning selection to the USL's 20 Under 20 list. He went on to score 17 goals over two seasons with Fort Lauderdale CF, later rebranded Inter Miami CF II, leading the club in scoring in 2021 while earning USL League One All-League Second Team honours and finishing as a finalist for the league's Young Player of the Year award. In July 2022, he made his Major League Soccer debut on a short-term loan with Inter Miami CF.

Piepgrass, 22, joins Pacific after four stints with his hometown club Cavalry FC. The Calgary, Alta., native was previously signed to a CPL-U SPORTS contract with Cavalry for the 2026 season. The two clubs have agreed on terms which allow Cavalry FC to relinquish the player's U SPORTS rights to Pacific FC. The financial details of the agreement are undisclosed, but Cavalry FC retains a future sell-on percentage.

He first signed a Development Contract with Cavalry in 2021 and made his CPL debut that August against Pacific FC. Piepgrass made 17 appearances across all competitions for the Cavs in 2025, including the club's CONCACAF Champions Cup campaign against Pumas UNAM of Mexico's Liga MX, and scored his first professional goal in the 2025 TELUS Canadian Championship.

At the university level, Piepgrass has starred for the Cape Breton Capers, helping the program capture the 2023 U SPORTS Men's Soccer Championship. In 2025, he was named the Atlantic University Sport (AUS) Most Valuable Player, an AUS First Team All-Star and a U SPORTS First Team All-Canadian, adding to First Team All-Star honours in 2023 and Second Team recognition in 2024.
