Should Vancouver FC take care of business on Sunday, and punch their ticket to the CPL playoffs for the first time in club history, defender Matteo Campagna will have played a huge part.
On Friday night under the lights in Langley, Campagna came to the rescue for a second consecutive week. Following a stoppage-time header that earned his side a crucial draw at Stade Boréale on Oct. 10, he went one better.
In a match where they needed a victory to remain in a playoff spot heading into the final weekend of the season, Campagna again scored a brilliantly placed header late in the match to give his side a 2-1 victory over the Halifax Wanderers.
For his heroics, Campagna was named the Canadian Premier League's Maple Lodge Farms Player of the Week for Matchweek 26.
Excellent on both sides of the ball, he also won five of six duels and led Vancouver FC in completed passes, with 47.
Campagna is the fourth Eagles player to be named Player of the Week this season. He joins Mohamd Amissi (Week 12), Damiano Pecile (Week 13) and Callum Irving (Week 16).
