TORONTO - Inter Toronto Football Club confirms that midfielder Yaathav Lakshman will join Inter Toronto II as part of the club’s Pathway for the 2026 Ontario Premier League season.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Lakshman is a Canadian midfielder who also holds Sri Lankan Tamil heritage. Operating primarily in central midfield roles, the 5’8” player is recognized for his progressive style of play, high work rate, and ability to impact matches on both sides of the ball.

Lakshman previously developed with Global Satellite Soccer Academy, Pickering FC, and Alliance United before joining the Inter Toronto Pathway. His accomplishments include signing a Development Contract for the 2025 Canadian Premier League season, and contributing to the 2025 CONIFA Asia Cup-winning side with two goals in three appearances. He has also represented the Tamil Eelam Football Association and earned recognition through multiple FTF combines and provincial-level showcases.

Lakshman first connected with the club through a training camp in 2024 before later earning a place in the academy following additional trials in early 2025. Since arriving, he has continued progressing within the club environment while gaining exposure to the professional level.

“I have learned a lot during my time here,” said Lakshman. “My speed of play has improved the most because the squad is full of high-level players, forcing me to keep my standards high. I have also trained with the First Team, which gave me exposure to the professionals and how they think on the field.”

Lakshman also credited the club environment for helping him maintain consistency and continue developing in a competitive setting where opportunities are directly linked to performance.

As part of Inter Toronto II, he will continue progressing within the club’s development structure while pursuing his ambition of reaching the professional game at the highest level.
