TORONTO, ON (October 26, 2026) – Inter Toronto FC wrapped up its 2026 Canadian Premier League campaign with a 2-1 victory over Atlético Ottawa at York Lions Stadium on Sunday, October 25, in a match that also highlighted the club's commitment to developing young talent through the Inter Toronto Pathway.
Five Pathway players were included in the matchday squad, with four seeing action as the club concluded its season in front of its home supporters.
Inter Toronto took the lead in the 36th minute through Ariel Almagro, rewarding a strong opening half from the home side. The team maintained its advantage after the break before Julián Altobelli doubled the lead in the 90th minute with a powerful strike from outside the penalty area.
Atlético Ottawa pulled one back through Nicolas Fleuriau Chateau's penalty in stoppage time, but Inter Toronto held on to secure all three points in its final match of the season.
Pathway Players Take Centre Stage
Beyond the result, Sunday's match provided another opportunity for young players from the Inter Toronto Pathway to gain valuable experience at the professional level.
Seventeen-year-old Nico Andrada earned his second start of the CPL season, continuing his integration into the First Team after progressing through the club's development system.
Ty Clarke, 18, entered the match in the 46th minute, while David Peraza, 17, came on in the 71st minute to replace Andrada.
One of the afternoon's notable moments came in the 90th minute, when 16-year-old Jason Brown made his Canadian Premier League debut, replacing Altobelli for his first appearance with the senior squad.
Chimaobim Onyeocha was also named to the matchday squad, completing a group of five Pathway players involved in the club's final fixture of the campaign.
Their inclusion reflects the continued connection between the Academy and the First Team, providing young players with opportunities to train, compete and develop within a professional environment.
Building on the Pathway
The involvement of five Pathway players in the season finale represents another step in Inter Toronto's ongoing efforts to establish a clear player development pathway.
Throughout the 2026 campaign, young players earned opportunities to experience the demands of professional soccer, whether through First Team training sessions, matchday selections or competitive appearances in the Canadian Premier League.
