FC Supra suffered, FC Supra didn't do everything right, but FC Supra showed courage to earn a draw against Vancouver at the Langley Events Centre on Saturday night.
This point was important because after three defeats in four matches, FC Supra needed to get back on track and confirm the good impressions seen at the start of the season; mission accomplished.
Defender Matisse Chrétien once again was the providential goalscorer, tucking away a rebound from a powerful Sean Rea strike following the "last chance" corner at the very end of stoppage time.
Eight minutes earlier, the mood was quite different when Mohammed Amissi finished off a superb pass from Nicolas Mezquida to put Vancouver ahead late. The VFC attacker outpaced Charles Auguste before beating Milli to the ball to open the scoring.
Vancouver FC fully deserved their opening goal, as Martin Nash's men created the best chances of the match.
Amissi had already hit the crossbar with a powerful strike in the first half. Isak Ssewankambo was only a few centimeters away from beating Milli after receiving a high-quality lofted ball from Elage Bah.
The Montreal goalkeeper, along with Matisse Chrétien, is the hero of the evening for the Montreal side. Twice, he saved his team with class and authority while the Supra ship was rocking.
Although generally dominated, Supra had its opportunities, but Loïc Kwemi, returning to the starting lineup after several weeks, struggled to find his range and was unable to hit the target with his shots.
The persistent finishing issue at Supra will still need to be addressed. That said, there's no reason for the club to complain: Supra scored, stopped its losing streak, and took a point from a direct rival for a playoff spot.
This is especially true as Supra confirmed some of its core values. After snatching victory in stoppage time away at Pacific FC during their first win of the season, FC Supra again tapped into its spirit of determination to score late and secure a positive result.
With a point each, Supra remain in fifth place in the CPL table, while Vancouver stayed seventh.

Having made several decisive saves, the FC Supra goalkeeper held off Vancouver's opening goal for a long time. Without his interventions, FC Supra likely wouldn't have been able to fight back.
