The German was at his best during a prolific month of May.

Much like the temperature across Canada, Tobias Warschewski started to heat up big time during May.

The German striker began the month by scoring an 88th-minute penalty in a 1-0 victory over FC Supra du Québec at Stade Boréale.

In the club's next league match, in Langley, he took down a pass over the top from Goteh Ntignee, ran in on a breakaway, and buried the match-winner in a 2-0 victory over Vancouver FC.

Then, it was a goal and assist against Pacific FC at ATCO Field in a 3-0 win.

With those three goals and an assist during the month, Warschewski was named the Canadian Premier League's Player of the Month for May 2026.

While not part of the consideration for Player of the Month honours, it is worth noting to underline his red-hot form that he also scored the match-winner from the penalty spot in the 88th minute of Cavalry's 3-1 win over Pacific FC in the Canadian Championship on May 9.

"When he goes on a run, he can't be stopped," said Tommy Wheeldon Jr. last month.

This CPL season, Warschewski is now up to four goals and two assists, tied with Halifax Wanderers midfielder Isaiah Johnston for most goal contributions in the league through eight matchweeks.

One key change in Warschewski's game this year is that, following the departure of Fraser Aird, he has been the one delivering more free kicks into the box. He has already set up Daan Klomp and Amer Didić for goals from such situations this season.

Through eight matches, his chances created per 90 are up to 2.1 from 1.5 last season. He is also the league leader in expected goals at 3.52 and shot attempts with 24.

The 2024 Canadian Premier League Golden Boot winner looks like he will be a leader in that race again in 2026, and that is great news for a Cavalry FC team chasing silverware of their own this season.
