The Cavs qualify for the CPL post-season for an eighth straight year

On Sunday, Cavalry FC became the first team to clinch a spot in the 2026 Canadian Premier League Playoffs.

The Calgary club have now qualified for the playoffs in each of the league's eight seasons.

Cavalry went into the weekend knowing that picking up any points would secure them a spot above the line. They accomplished that on Vancouver Island with a 1-0 victory over Pacific FC.

The 2024 North Star Cup champions have appeared in the past three CPL finals, falling to Atlético Ottawa in the epic snow globe finale last year in the nation's capital.

Cavalry have led the way this season in just about every facet. Through 21 matchweeks, they top the CPL in points (47), wins (15) and goals for (41), and have allowed the fewest in the league (12), with an incredible +29 goal difference.

With a playoff spot secured, Cavalry now turn their attention toward their ultimate goal this season: silverware.

With their win on Sunday, they maintain their four-point lead over Forge in the regular season title race. They will host the Hamilton club at ATCO Field this next Saturday in a massive match in determining who will lift the 2026 CPL Shield.
