At home for the first time this month, Inter Toronto came out flying on Sunday.
By the 25th minute, they were already up 3-0. Despite a valiant Halifax comeback in the second half, they parlayed that into a vital 4-3 victory.
The architect of the dream start was Ariel Almagro. Less than three minutes into the match, the 25-year-old Ecuadorian winger scored an incredible curling strike into the bottom corner.
Just seven minutes later, he curled a cross into the box that resulted in a Halifax own goal to put his side up 2-0. He completed the brilliant start with a cutback assist, which Steffen Yeates put into the top corner in the 25th minute.
For his performance, Almagro has been named the Maple Lodge CPL Player of the Week for Matchweek 17.
Almagro is the third Inter Toronto player to be named the league's Player of the Week this season, joining Tomasz Skublak (week 5) and Diego Urtiaga (week 6).
Toronto now look to build on that momentum when they host FC Supra du Québec on Sunday, August 23 (4 p.m. ET) on OneSoccer, CBC Gem and TVAS2. Tickets are available here.
