Just one week after his teammate Marco Bustos, Kadin Chung reached the 100-match mark for Pacific. It's a fitting milestone for a player whose story has been intertwined with Pacific FC from the very beginning.
Before the club would even play their first match, Chung would become the first signing in Pacific FC history in late 2018. At just 20 years old, the Port Coquitlam native was tasked with helping build a brand-new club from the ground up alongside a group of players who would form the foundation of professional soccer on Vancouver Island.
Just months later, in April of 2019, Kadin would start at Right Back for the Tridents in their inaugural match. He would help keep a clean sheet for Pacific in a 1-0 win against Halifax at home.
In that same season, Chung scored the first goal of his CPL career, finding the back of the net against FC Edmonton. The strike proved to be the match-winner and gave Pacific supporters another memorable moment in the club's inaugural season. It was an early milestone in what we now know would become a historic Pacific FC career.
Chung would go on to become a mainstay in Pacific's lineup over the next three seasons, playing an important role in the most memorable season in their history. Kadin featured prominently throughout Pacific's historic 2021 campaign, helping the Tridents to a semi-final run in the Telus Canadian Championship, which included a 4-3 victory over the Vancouver Whitecaps. Chung and the Tridents completed their dream season by defeating Forge FC to lift the North Star Cup and secure the first Canadian Premier League championship in club history.
Following the championship season, Kadin earned a move away to MLS side, Toronto FC, where he would play for the next 2 seasons. In 2023, Kadin made his return to the CPL joining Vancouver FC before making the move back to the island in 2025.
Few players have had the opportunity to witness the club's evolution as closely as Chung. From the first roster announcement and the inaugural season to a league championship and now a century of appearances, he has been part of nearly every chapter of Pacific FC's story.
On Sunday, Kadin Chung became a Pacific centurion. Congratulations, Kadin, on 100 appearances for Pacific FC. The club will highlight both Kadin and Marco’s accomplishment pre-match on July 5th at Starlight Stadium before they take on the Halifax Wanderers.
