Klomp, Paton, Ntignee power Cavalry to a home-opening victory.

Cavalry FC get their 2025 CPL Final revenge in dominate 3-1 victory over Atletico Ottawa.

The Cavs returned to ATCO Field for their home opener of the 2026 Canadian Premier League season. After a dominant first half with goals from defender Daan Klomp and midfielder Harry Paton.

Winger Goteh Ntignee added to Cavalry’s lead in the second half after Ottawa’s goalkeeper Tristan Crampton saved Bradley Kamden Fewo’s initial strike.

A late goal in the 88th minute from Atletico Ottawa’s Kamron Habibullah prevented a clean sheet for Cavalry’s shot-stopper Nathan Ingham, who made three saves in the match.

Despite dominating possession in the match with 66%, Ottawa struggled to create chances with Cavalry taking full advantage generating six shots on target.

Cavalry striker Tobias Warschewski played provider thanks to a give-and-go with Harry Paton who found Sergio Camargo surging into the box and once again found Paton as a late trailer into the box to score his second for the club in as many games. Warschewski assisted on Daan Klomp’s opening header of the match thanks to a brilliant free kick delivery.

Goteh Ntignee’s insurance marker in the 67th minute provided Cavalry with a 3-0 lead before he exited the match in the 72nd minute for Ali Musse.

Harry Paton showed his defensive tenacity on the opposite side of the ball with his game-leading 4 tackles.

Up next, Cavalry FC head off to Hamilton to face Forge FC in a semi-final playoff rematch and a Paton brother reunion with Harry facing his old club.
