Pacific FC assistant coach Jesse Acteson will not be with the club for its remaining three matches of the 2026 Canadian Premier League season, as he joins Canada Soccer’s Women’s U-17 National Team for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Following Pacific FC’s match in Hamilton, Acteson remained in Ontario and will travel with Canada’s U-17 squad as the team prepares for the tournament.

Acteson has been selected as part of Canada’s coaching staff for the tournament after playing an important role throughout the current U-17 cycle. Earlier this year, he served as the team’s interim head coach during the Concacaf Women’s U-17 Championship qualifying tournament, guiding Canada to three wins from three matches and qualification for the World Cup.

Canada’s 21-player squad will compete in Group C at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, alongside Brazil, Norway and Ghana. The tournament begins October 17th in Morocco, with Canada opening its group-stage campaign against Brazil on October 18th before facing Norway on October 21st and Ghana on October 24th.

Acteson joined Pacific FC in July as an assistant coach after previously working with Sligo Rovers in Ireland, CF Montréal’s Academy and several youth programs in Québec, in addition to his work with Canada Soccer’s youth national teams.

During his time with the Tridents, Acteson has been part of a coaching staff led by head coach Terry Dunfield and assistant coach Yiannis Tsalatsidis. He also stepped into the head coaching role for three of Pacific’s matches this season, earning seven points from a possible nine.

Pacific FC would like to congratulate Jesse on the opportunity to represent Canada on the world stage and wish him and the CANW17 squad the best of luck in Morocco.
