Welcome to opening week in the Canadian Premier League, with season eight officially kicking off on Saturday, April 4.
As the final countdown begins, teams were still hard at work this past week, adding players to complete their opening day squads.
In the final edition of CPL Headlines for the 2026 off-season, here is everything you need to know about the past week across the league:
Vancouver FC add former EPL striker Mousset, young Brazilian attacker Vitor Lucas
Just a week out from their home opener against the Halifax Wanderers at Willoughby Stadium on Saturday, Vancouver FC have added some serious attacking weapons.
This past Tuesday, they confirmed the signing of former Bournemouth and Sheffield United striker Lys Mousset. The French forward has 99 English Premier League appearances on his resumé, scoring nine goals.
The 30-year-old has also spent time with clubs in Serie A and the Bundesliga.
Mousset will bring crucial experience to this Eagles club and their increasingly reinforced frontline for 2026.
The club also announced on Friday the addition of 19-year-old Brazilian attacker Vitor Lucas. He recently played for Red Bull Bragantino's U-20 team in Brazil.
Cavalry bolster backline with Pearlman loan
It was an exciting off-season for Cavalry FC as they reinforced several positions across the pitch with exciting new additions.
On Tuesday, they added another big piece to their backline by bringing in Toronto FC defender Adam Pearlman on loan. The 20-year-old was brilliant last season for the Halifax Wanderers, making 28 appearances in all competitions.
A versatile and competitive defender, Pearlman showed a strong ability on both sides of the ball on the East Coast last season.
He adds to an already formidable new-look backline that includes additions of Nathan Ingham, Amer Didić and Curtis Ofori.
Atlético Ottawa sign CPL veteran full-back Wesley Timoteo
The CPL champs added another solid CPL veteran to their ranks this past week with the addition of 25-year-old full-back Wesley Timoteo.
The Montréal native played for the Halifax Wanderers for the past three seasons, collecting nine assists and a goal for the Maratime club. A versatile wide player, he will fit in well with Atlético Ottawa's attacking identity.
Prior to joining Halifax, Timoteo made his pro debut with FC Edmonton in the CPL. He sits sixth in assists in the league over the past four CPL seasons, with 14 total to go with four career CPL goals.
Supra sign first two picks from the 2026 CPL-U SPORTS Draft
On Wednesday, FC Supra du Québec announced the signings of the first two picks in the 2026 CPL-U SPORTS Draft, 24-year-old midfielder Calin Calaidjoglu and 21-year-old attacker Alexandre Marcoux.
Calaidjoglu, who went first overall in this year's draft, has professional experience in both Moldova and France, and played this past season for Université de Montréal in RSEQ.
The second overall selection, Marcoux, was named RSEQ Most Outstanding Player for 2025 after an excellent U SPORTS season, he also played for CS Saint-Laurent this past summer in Ligue1 Québec.
Supra also announced the signing of development contracts for four exciting local talents: Eliakim Awonongbadje, Isaiah Byer, Jolan Faury and Alexander Makarova George.
